This manifesto is more than a list of promises. It is a call to action based on real data, grounded principles, and an unwavering commitment to inclusive development. For decades, many Malawians have lived with the consequences of weak policies, rising poverty, and democratic backsliding. AFORD says clearly: this cannot continue.
At the core of the plan are the Four Fs — Forex, Fertiliser, Food, and Fuel — the basic resources that keep a nation running. Shortages in these areas are not accidental; they are the result of poor governance, corruption, and lack of strategic planning. AFORD’s policy interventions will address each of these crises head-on with pragmatic, measurable actions.

Beyond these urgent interventions, the manifesto outlines six strategic pillars for long-term transformation:
- Restoring macro- and microeconomic stability
- Driving sector-based job creation
- Empowering youth, women, SMMEs, and indigenous businesses
- Investing in infrastructure that works — roads, schools, health, and tourism
- Defending democracy and civic values
- Accelerating Malawi’s industrialisation, especially in mining, agriculture, and manufacturing
AFORD also believes that political accountability must match economic ambition. The manifesto proposes reforms to reduce government waste, prioritise development spending, and cut unnecessary foreign travel. A proposed Malawi Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation will drive investment into critical sectors and support local production.
